Frequently Asked Questions

Below are frequently asked questions about the Kansas Voluntary Exclusion Program. Click on any question to expand and view the answer.

How can I add my name to the self-exclusion list?

If you want to participate in this voluntary program, you will need to complete an application form at a Kansas Racing and Gaming Commission office.

Where can I sign up?

You may complete an application for placement on Voluntary Exclusion List at any KRGC office. Each Kansas casino has a KRGC office located on the property; casino security can direct you to the KRGC office.

Do I have to complete the application in person?

Yes. Applicants must appear in person at a Kansas Racing and Gaming Commission office to sign an application in the presence of a commission employee.

Do I have to go to a casino to sign up?

No. You may complete an application for placement on the Voluntary Exclusion List at the Kansas Racing and Gaming Commission's Topeka office or at any of the four casinos in Kansas. A KRGC office is located at each casino property; casino security can direct you to the office.

Can a spouse or relative have someone placed on the list?

No. Only the individual may voluntarily place him or herself on the list.

Can I still work at a casino if I place myself on the list?

Yes. State regulations require anyone who works at a Kansas casino to be licensed by the Commission. Your placement on the Voluntary Exclusion List should not affect that license. However, as a condition of employment, the casino may require you to perform certain duties or take a lunch break on the casino floor. If this is an issue for you, you should discuss this with your employer.

Who can access information on the list?

Names and information on the Voluntary Exclusion List are confidential and only shared with the four casinos in Kansas. If you have placed yourself on the Voluntary Exclusion List, your name and information will be shared with all four Kansas casinos.

Will my name be released to the public?

No. The list is confidential and only shared with the four Kansas casinos.

What kind of information is on the application?

Your completed application will include your name, physical description, address, phone number, social security number, driver's license/photo ID number and state of issuance, and a signature attesting to the voluntariness of your request. We will also require a photo of you; we will take this photo in the office. If applicable, any aliases you have used will also be included.

May I bring someone with me for support when I apply?

Yes. Family members or friends may accompany you to the KRGC office. However, they will not be allowed in the office during your meeting with commission staff when your picture is taken and you sign the application.

What happens after I submit the application to the KRGC?

Your name and information will be shared with the casinos in Kansas. Your name will remain on the list for a minimum of five years.

What happens if I violate my pledge not to visit a Kansas Casino?

If you violate your pledge, you may be arrested for trespassing. Any winnings or complementary services received during the period of your placement on the list may be forfeited.

If I place my name on the list, does this exclude me from casinos in other states or Native American Casinos?

No. Your placement on the Kansas Voluntary Exclusion List is only effective in Kansas state-owned casinos. Many states and tribal gaming operations have similar programs. To participate in these other exclusion programs, you will have to contact those individual jurisdictions.

What options do I have to get off the list?

Your name will remain on the list for a minimum of five years. After that period of time, you may apply to have your name removed from the list. To learn more about the removal process, you may contact the Responsible Gambling Coordinator at 785-296-5800.
