KRGC

The Kansas Racing and Gaming Commission is the state agency empowered by the Kansas Expanded Lottery Act and the Kansas Pari-mutuel Racing Act to regulate state owned casinos and pari-mutuel racetracks in Kansas. The commission is comprised of 5 members appointed by the Governor and confirmed by the Senate for staggered four-year terms. For more information about the Commissioners, click here. Commission meetings are held monthly to conduct business related to gaming in Kansas. These meetings are open to the public; meeting notices, agendas and minutes are posted on the agency’s website. The day to day operations of the agency are administered by an executive director who is also appointed by the Governor and confirmed by the Senate. Currently, the staff of the agency perform a number of regulatory duties primarily associated with state-owned casinos, including: audit and electronic security, licensing and security, and responsible gambling compliance. In addition, the KRGC serves as the coordinating agency for illegal gambling complaints in Kansas, and seeks to educate citizens regarding the gambling laws of Kansas.
